An interactive event for Sixth Formers, exploring the effects of gender in politics, economics and culture
This interactive and creative event will involve young people in discussions about the impact of gender in three aspects of our lives:
• the economy and jobs
• the parliamentary system and political engagement
• popular culture
Taking place in Emmeline Pankhurst’s home, where the first meeting of the Women’s Social and Political Union was held, the sessions will encourage students to think about the history of feminism in Manchester and beyond, and about how far we may still have to go in ensuring women’s rights today.
Places have been reserved for two invited sixth form colleges. If you are a teacher and are interested in a group from your school or college attending, please contact the organisers.
