Exploring the psychology of crowd science using demonstrations, games and virtual reality technology

Learn about the science of crowd psychology and how this is used to ensure safety at concerts, sports matches and festivals. Students will be able to engage in experiments and real-life simulations where their awareness of their personal safety and the behaviour of others will be tested in a safe environment using demonstrations, games and virtual reality technology. Researchers will showcase some of their most interesting projects to date including working with the police and other organisations providing security advice for crowd safety at concerts, marathons, festivals and more recently Canada 150 celebrations. Students will be given real-life lessons and knowledge (including their own personal safety pocket card) about how to keep themselves and others safe during a crisis.
